ENROLMENT REQUIREMENTS AND THE ENTRY PROCESS GUIDELINES

Scotch College, an international school of excellence, has been established in Vietnam for talented young Vietnamese students. Scotch AGS is a brand of Scotch College, an Australian school with over 100 years of history in learning and development. In 2024 – 2025, Nam Uc Scotch AGS enrolls students from grades 1 to 11.

Admission requirements

Primary school

Admission requirements for Grades 1 and 2

  • Students are required to participate in an experiential session at Scotch AGS and undergo a one-on-one interview with a teacher before enrollment.
  • The experiential session provides an opportunity for families and young students to familiarize themselves with the international learning environment and educational culture of the school. It also allows the school to understand the parents’ aspirations, as well as the personality, interests, and strengths of each student. Parents are asked to respond to questions in the admission survey, including information about the child’s strengths, interests, academic history, and any special support needs in academics, communication skills, extracurricular activities, and psychological aspects (if applicable).

Admission requirements for Grades 3, 4, and 5

  • Students need to participate in an experiential session at Scotch AGS and take an entrance assessment test.
  • Similar to the process for grades 1 and 2, the experiential session offers families and young students a chance to acquaint themselves with the international learning environment and educational culture of the school. This session also provides the school with insights into the parents’ aspirations, as well as the personality, interests, and strengths of each student. Parents are required to answer questions in the admission survey, covering information about the child’s strengths, interests, academic history, and any specific support needs in academics, communication skills, extracurricular activities, and psychological aspects (if applicable)

Admission requirements for Grades 6-9

Considering the grade point average (GPA) of the most recent school year or semester and the English proficiency (Pearson Versant/IELTS).

Grades 6 and 7: GPA >= 7.0/10 (or equivalent), Pearson Versant 37 (IELTS 4.5).

  • Students should have a Grade Point Average (GPA) from the most recent academic year/semester of 7.0/10 or above, and an English proficiency level equivalent to Pearson Versant 37 (IELTS 4.0) or higher.
  • In cases where students meet the English proficiency requirement but have a GPA below 7.0 or have grades from a non-convertible grading system or from international schools, they must complete the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) and achieve a CAT4 Overall Score (SAS) of 95 or above, with no component score below 90.
  • For students meeting the GPA requirement but having an English proficiency level below Pearson Versant 37 (IELTS 4.0), they will be issued a Conditional Offer of Admission. Students must achieve a Pearson Versant 37 score by July 15, 2024, to meet the initial admission conditions. The school does not refund deposits if students fail to meet the admission conditions.

Grades 8 and 9: GPA >= 7.0/10 (or equivalent), Pearson Versant 41 (IELTS 5.0).

  • Students should have a Grade Point Average (GPA) from the most recent academic year/semester of 7.0/10 or above, or an equivalent, and an English proficiency level equivalent to Pearson Versant 41 (IELTS 4.5) or higher.
  • In cases where students meet the English proficiency requirement but have a GPA below 7.0 or have grades from a non-convertible grading system or from international schools, they must complete the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) and achieve a CAT4 Overall Score (SAS) of 95 or above, with no component score below 90.

Grade 10: GPA >= 7.0/10 (or equivalent), Pearson Versant 46 (IELTS 5.5).

  • Students should have a Grade Point Average (GPA) from the most recent academic year/semester of 7.0/10 or above, or an equivalent. The average grade in Mathematics for the most recent semester must be 6.5/10 or higher, and an English proficiency level equivalent to Pearson Versant 46 (IELTS 5.0) or higher.
  • In cases where students meet the English proficiency requirement but have a GPA below 7.0 or have grades from a non-convertible grading system or from international schools, they must complete the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) and achieve a CAT4 Overall Score (SAS) of 95 or above, with no component score below 90.
  • For students meeting the GPA requirement but having an English proficiency level below Pearson Versant 46 (IELTS 5.0), they will be issued a Conditional Offer of Admission. Students must achieve a Pearson Versant 46 score by July 15, 2024, to meet the initial admission conditions. The school does not refund deposits if students fail to meet the admission conditions.

Grade 11: GPA >= 7.5/10 (or equivalent), Pearson Versant 57 (IELTS 6.0).

  • Students of the appropriate age entering Grade 11 must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) from the most recent academic year/semester of 7.5/10 or above, or an equivalent. The average grade in Mathematics for the most recent semester must be 6.5/10 or higher, and an English proficiency level equivalent to Pearson Versant 51 (IELTS 6.0) or higher.
  • In cases where students meet the English proficiency requirement but have a GPA below 7.5 or have grades from a non-convertible grading system or from international schools, they must complete the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) and achieve a CAT4 Overall Score (SAS) of 95 or above, with no component score below 90.
  • For students meeting the GPA requirement but having an English proficiency level below Pearson Versant 57 (IELTS 6.0), they will be issued a Conditional Offer of Admission. Students must achieve a Pearson Versant 57 score by July 15, 2024, to meet the initial admission conditions. The school does not refund deposits if students fail to meet the admission conditions.
